National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

Point Ellice House Museum & Gardens

Point Ellice House and its past occupants are linked to the many disruptive processes of colonization that sought to replace Indigenous peoples with a settler society. On September 30th, 2021 – a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – we are taking time to acknowledge and honour the survivors, their families, and the communities who were subjected to Canada’s genocidal policies.

There can be no reconciliation without truth and below we have shared links to important resources that address the history and legacy of the residential school system in Canada. This day and every day, Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens will continue to engage with the necessary work of reflecting upon the past so that we may build a more just future.
