Dearest Kathleen

I hear London
is appalling in
its darkness

Thank you so much for yr nice long letter & telling me yr places & it is good you were given a few days more holiday !! I am going on Saturday to Inchmarlo Banchory – Aberdeenshire – Scotland. anyhow for a fortnight. The weather is too bautiful now gorgeous sunshine & very little frost now – really beautiful. It is so sad to see Arthur Sutherland with only one leg.

It is not ready yet for being measured even for a false one. he is very tall & so good looking. it is such a pity & he is so good about it only 25. Sir James Wolfe Murray is off today or tomorrow in a cruiser as being more important & safer to Russia on a Mission to the Czar from our King & also to give some decorations & it is very important. & he will be away about 6 weeks & he does not go back to the war office. he cd stand the tremendous work no more quite ill he became & in fact they are dividing the work now as it is far too much work for one man. weather lovely such glorious sunshine so beautiful Mrs . Stanhope is back at 64 Queen’s Gate if you want to pay her a visit now dearest hoping I have news of your Jack very soon. Always

yr very affect

. Chesterfield.
