My dear Miss O’Reilly

I hope you will excuse a short note at present to thank you so much for the volume of poems . I received your former letter, but did not answer it, as I was waiting from day to day for the book to come. which I am so glad to have and shall read in the Datchet cottage to which I go down next week, but am in town every day of the summer, & if you come home shall be delighted to see you. Thanks for letting me know of Mrs. crofts. Such hard work, my office companion Commander Duncombe died suddenly & I have to take over his work of which I know nothing, & no-one to tell me how he ran things. A new Captain came only two days ago, who knows nothing about it so I am left the only one of three with all the work on my shoulders. so I can only write very quickly. Please thank Jack for his letter, & remember me to all your people. I hope to see something of the Musgraves, & Snowdens when they come up to town .

Sincerely yours

Harry Stanhope
