Dear Miss O’Reilly
I hope this will catch you before you leave England, as you said you were leaving early this month. You seem to have had a way of moving about. I used to enjoy the summer at Datchet so much, but towards the end the daily train used to tell on one. I was in the New Admiralty building the last year I was there. my room was on the ground floor looking on to the garden, I daresay you passed it on the way to the Stand. I really could’nt help leaving it when I did – it was a case of going to sea or going out of the services, as the time at the admiralty counted for nothing though I used to slave there pretty hard. I’m glad you saw my mother again. I dent wonder at her asking you to lunch, and forgetting all about it. She writes me letters mixing me up with what she is going to write next to another brother – it was quite impossible to get her to settle down to two minutes quiet in London. always on the go. I enclose you two very bad Kodaks of parts of my cabin taken by one of my Lieuts. his first trial at time exposures, I must get him to have another try. I am so glad Jubilee week is over. I have had such a lot to do both with the Embassy Entertainments & our own. I have taken to cricket again, and with fair success, but perhaps they are not a brilliant lot out here & everything goes by comparison. We have a lovely valley to make use of for games, sports, &c and lovely weather now. Please remember me most kindly to all of yours when you get back to B.C., which I long always to see again, though you seem to doubt it. ever yours very sincerely
Harry Stanhope.
