Dear Miss O’Reilly

I have been trying to find out from my mother & the Seymours where you were, but they did’nt know your country address. I heard from my mother on the way home, and she told me of your sad loss. I was so sorry for you all.

[section missing?]

I have been here a fortnight now, and am still in an uncertain state as to when we can pay off. We have to wait a decision as to what class of the Reserve we pay off in to. I have an invitation for Miss Effie ‘s wedding and shall try & attend. I am going in to the country for Saturday to Monday & shall try &. get leave to go on to town, returning here after the wedding. As I shall be leaving here early on Saturday afternoon, would you mind writing me a line by return & tell me if you are still to be in town on Monday or Tuesday. I would come either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning & see you at the Windsor Hotel. Perhaps you may go to Dover Street for a few minutes on the day of the wedding, but I hardly think likely. My mother was to leave town today for a week’s change, which she wants badly. I went up to my eldest brother’s wedding.

Kind regards to your brother & also to your father if with you.

Ever yrs sincerely

Harry Stanhope
